I wasn't really sure where to stick this one. She's not actually a "plushie." If you hug her she will fall apart and poke you with her harpoons. But her main body is stuffed. It's better described as a "soft sculpture" but there's no real category for that... so I'll stick her here.

Why Moby Dick as a Siren? Sirens traditionally lured sailors to their death. I was struck with the inspiration that Captain Ahab's obsession could be Siren's song. Sure... it's revenge, but the call of that great white whale is what lures him out to his death. Maybe if he had ignored that call in the first place he wouldn't have had such a big vendetta.

Some themes... Nature vs. Man... The untouchable spirit of nature. The wounds are only skin deep.

Materials: Velour, stuffing, plastic eyes, Tibetan Lamb skin, cheesecloth, wood, hemp cord, paint, food dye and 20g wire.

This is beautiful. Wow, it's just amazing. I love the details, like the hint of blood on her gauze skirt. Lovely.

Very nice piece leloi! A nice take on the story as well. Certainly it deals with the nature of man's ability to destroy himself in the pursuit of something - whether it be beauty or beast.
